Mentorship

Our mentorship program connects New Americans with community members who share their time, friendship, and local knowledge. Together, mentors and mentees build relationships that help newcomers feel at home in North Dakota.

For Mentees

Looking for a Mentor?

As a mentee, you will be paired with a North Dakota community member who will spend time with you each week — helping with English practice, exploring the area, and offering guidance as you settle into life here.

Who qualifies: New Americans, refugees, and immigrants living in the Bismarck area who want support as they build their new life.

For Mentors

Become a Mentor

Mentors are North Dakotans at all stages of life — singles, families with children, or pairs of friends who want to make a difference together. No special skills, languages, or education are needed. Global Neighbors provides all training and resources. What you do need: patience, compassion, and curiosity.

What Mentors Do

Mentors commit one hour per week for three to six months, helping introduce their mentee families to life in the US. Activities include English practice, homework help, cultural exchange, driving practice, exploring the community, and sharing meals.

How It Works
